Gerardo Otero

Gerardo Otero is a Mexican-Canadian scholar, writer, and professor. Otero is currently a professor of International Studies at Simon Fraser University, as well as an associated faculty member of the [http://www.sfu.ca/labour.html Labour Studies Program] and the [http://www.sfu.ca/sustainabledevelopment.html Centre for Sustainable Development]. He was president of the Latin American Studies Association in 2021-2022. In Vancouver, where he currently resides, Otero is a founding member of the British Columbia Employment Standards Coalition, and a Research associate at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

Otero specializes in Latin America, neoliberal globalism, and the political impact of agriculture, food security, and health. He is the author of numerous academic works including books, chapters, book reviews, and articles, in his fields of research. Provided by Wikipedia
