Abstract

Nano Tin Oxide-activated carbon (Pt/SnO2-C) as cathode catalyst support has been synthesized by electroless deposition method for high temperature fuel cells. Pt/SnO2-C of varying Pt contents were characterized using XRD, SEM and EDX. Nano Tin Oxide-activated carbon supported platinum (Pt/SnO2-C) as cathode catalyst was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Electrochemical properties evaluated by cyclic voltammetry coupled with a rotating disk electrode (RDE) showed improvements with SnO2 addition. The synthesized catalysts performance was as good as the performance of the control commercial catalyst.
