Especially, the two-nucleon contributions to the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the deuteron are calculated up-to-and-including next-to-next-to-leading order, while the ones of $^3$He are calculated to next-to-leading order. Quantitative tests of the QCD $\theta$-term scenario are presented and qualitative extensions to P- and T-violating terms resulting from beyond-the-standard-model physics are discussed.
