In electrophotography, organic photoconductors are used in the photoactive layer covering the laserprinter or photocopier drums_ When exposed to light, pairs of charge carriers are generated in the photoactive layer . These pairs have to be separated for the following printing or copying pro cess. Recombination is a competing channel which keeps the probability for Charge separation low . !his thesis demonstrates that with respect to its electronic levels the electron acceptor C60 is well suited to inhibit recombination and to enhance the Charge generation rate for soine organic photoconductors . Thus adnv.xture of Small amounts of C 60 can lead to an efficiency enhancement of the laserprinter or photocopier . For this purpose photoelectron spectra (UPS and )'S) and X-ray absorption near edge spectra (XANES) from various organic photoconductors (different phthalocyanines, polyvinylcarbazole, DTPP (1,4-dithioketo-3,6-diphenyl-pyrrolo-[3,4- c]-pyrrole) and MPP (N,N'-dimethyl-3,4,9,11 0-perylenbis-(dicarboximide))) in contact to C60 were recorded. In order to increase the understanding of the Charge generation and recombination processes, ferntosecond time resolved two photon photoeinission has been used, revealing the typicai lifetimes and energies of optical excitations in Zn-phthaiocyanine . |
