The incoherent scattering function, $S_{inc}(\vec{Q},\omega),$ is measured for liquid and solid aqueous solutions of HF and $NH_{4}F$ in the region 0,8 $\mathring{A}^{-1}$ < Q < 1,6 $\mathring{A}^{-1}$ and -0,9 meV < h$\omega$ < + 1.2 meV. Discrete energy transfers, corresponding to frequencies of the order of 2 x 10$^{11}$ s$^{-1}$, are found in all HF solutions and in the solid solution of NH$_{4}$F. The results are compared to earlier results obtained with water. The observed transitions are interpreted as flucruations of protons between equivalent hydrogen bonding sites. |
