The presented work outlines a study to model the impact of a fuel container and the resulting fire ball with FDS. As the fuel dispersion is modelled with particles, the initial size and velocity distributions are evaluated and compared to experimental data. In order to validate these dispersion simulations, an extensive analysis and plausibility calculations are carried out. The developed analysis tools access directly the FDS output data and process as well as visualize it. Our contribution is concluded with the analysis and discussion of the fire dynamics as well as the heat flux on the impact wall. |
