The project B6 investigates membrane filtration processes for the concentration, purification and separation ofmicrogels: in particular, it focuses on the role of hydrodynamic interactions, membrane porosity andcolloidal interactions. We develop analytic methods of calculating transport properties in concentrated suspensions, a theoretical framework for membrane ultrafiltration of nonionic microgels, as well as practical membrane filtration processes, with new rigorous techniques for real-time visualization of particle deposition on the surfaceof porous membranes and within the pores. In this talk, we report the progress during last year within the different work packages, highlighting the key publications. We also present the outline of the activities pursued in coming period together with planned publications and collaborations. |
