I wrote a publication-based dissertation in order to answer the research question “Which factors of a participation process promote social learning and thus foster a transformation towards a sustainable energy system?”. This dissertation is structured in two parts. Part I provides a summary of the dissertation and includes the overarching goal and research question, outlines the theoretical concepts applied, summarizes each journal article, discusses how the results contribute to answer the research question, provides policy recommendations, and points to future research. Part II contains the four articles published in international peer reviewed scientific journals.
