BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) is one of the world's most voluminous search sengines especially for academic web resources, e.g. journal articles, preprints, digital collections, images / videos or research data. Other than search engines like Google or Bing BASE searches the deep web as well. The sources which are included are intellectually selected and reviewed. BASE is operated by Bielefeld University Library.

Subject portal for economics: literature search in important German and international databases in economics including the library holdings of the ZBW (Leibniz Information Center for Economics), access to free and licensed full texts on the Internet (e.g., open access documents provided by the ZBW), and a calendar of events in economics. The EconBiz is a joint project of the German National Library of Economics (ZBW) and the University and City Library of Cologne (USB Köln).
