European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST) – Actions are intended to result into (i) more focused and productive international collaborations, (ii) developing a common knowledge basis among the different participating research groups, (iii) training students and young researchers and (iv) improving the knowledge transfer from fundamental research to applications. COST Action MP1201 on “Nanoscale Superconductivity: Novel Functionalities through Optimized Confinement of Condensate and Fields (NANOSC) will use to this purpose a unique tool, named the European Virtual Institutes (EVI) [1]. This EVI allows scientists which are involved in this COST‐Action [2], to share experimental equipment (for preparing and characterizing nanoscale superconductors), to share theoretical resources, to meet each other in virtual rooms, to use a common distribution center to exchange physical objects (samples), to make use of a common archive room, to arrange travel enhancing exchange of personnel, to provide services towards industry (within our scientific domain) and to broadcast information (job announcements, organization of workshops and conferences, etc.). Acknowledgments: This work has been supported by the EU under Grant N° “COST‐Action MP1201” and by the Methusalem Funding of the Flemish Government [1] http://www.kuleuven.be/inpac/cost/EVI.php [2] http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/mpns/Actions/MP1201/
