Understanding environment conditions and trends requires information; this information is usually generated from observations, experiments and simulations. A better management and usability of open environmental data is crucial, not only to retrieve large amounts of data, but also to cater the issues like data privacy and trust, uncertainties, quality control, interoperability, visualization, and management policies. This special session will be organized in conjunction with SENSORNETS 2014. It will bring together communities dealing with open environmental data infrastructures (e.g. private and public sectors) to discuss relevant requirements, practices and experiences. These aspects will not only be addressed in terms of a technological perspective, but also in terms social and legal perspectives. |
