The High-Q Club showcases applications which demonstrate scalability to effectively utilise all 458752 cores of the JUQUEEN 28-rack Blue Gene/Q system at Jülich Supercomputing Centre. Since its establishment, a broad spectrum of codes qualified for membership using up to 1835008 processes and/or threads. An opportunity for additional application teams to (im)prove their code scalability, assisted by experts from JSC Simulation Laboratories, Cross-sectional teams and technical support, was provided by the 2015 JUQUEEN Extreme Scaling workshop. Within the first 24 hours of dedicated access to the entire resource, all 7 participating teams had adapted their codes and datasets to exploit the massive parallelism and restricted node memory for successful full-system executions. With the High-Q Club membership now grown to 24 codes, we summarise program coding and scaling characteristics focussing on the 7 codes from the workshop. |
