A model calculation for the reaction NN --> NNeta near-threshold is presented. The eta meson production is described by elementary rescattering processes via MN --> etaN, with M = pi, rho, eta and sigma. Corresponding amplitudes are taken from a multi-channel meson-exchange model of the piN system developed by the Julich group. Effects of the NN interaction in the final as well as in the initial state are taken into account microscopically. |
