The chemical imaging sensor is a semiconductor-based chemical sensor that can visualize the spatial distribution of chemical species. Although it has been applied to visualization of various specimens, its slow scan rate has been a problem. In this study, a new "chemical image scanner" system based on a linear LED array and frequency division multiplex (FDM) is proposed. The scan time to obtain an ion concentration image at a resolution of 16 pixels x 128 lines was reduced to 6.4 s with the new system. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. |
