Neues Verfahren zur Isolierung von $^{223}$Francium an synthetischem Ultramarin durch Ausnutzung eines Siebeffektes
An ion-sieve effect on a synthetic ultramarine causes a decrease of the exchange of the alkali-metal elements from sodium to francium depending on the bare ionic radii. $^{227}$Ac is strongly adsorbed by ultramarine together with $^{227}$Th, $^{215}$Po and $^{211}$Pb, whereas $^{207}$Tl and $^{223}$...

An ion-sieve effect on a synthetic ultramarine causes a decrease of the exchange of the alkali-metal elements from sodium to francium depending on the bare ionic radii. $^{227}$Ac is strongly adsorbed by ultramarine together with $^{227}$Th, $^{215}$Po and $^{211}$Pb, whereas $^{207}$Tl and $^{223}$Ra are eluted together with $^{223}$Fr. From this eluate $^{223}$Ra is adsorbed on a BaS0$_{4}$-silica bed which is coupled to the ultramarine-column. By this technique it was possible to separate $^{223}$Fr with a high yield of ~ 90% in the short time of 2-3 min., so gaining a far longer time for experimentation. - By the other known methods approximately 20-30 min. were always necessary. Any remaining part of short-lived $^{207}$Tl may be eliminated by a TIJ precipitation, but this procedure will not take more than 3 min. Most valuable proved to be the fact that even after 8 months, $^{223}$Fr could still be milked repeatedly from the radiation resistant ultramarine column without any change in the yield. - The K$_{D}$-values of francium on ultramarine are reported together with those from the alkali and alkaline earth ions, and Y$^{3+}$ and Sc$^{3+}$. Additionally the K$_{D}$-values of Fr were determined on Zirconium phosphate, tungstate and molybdate and comparedwith the corresponding Cs-K$_{D}$-values. |
