Development of a rapid, precise and non-destructive method for determining oxygen in steel by activation with 14.5 MeV neutrons. Nuclear reaction applied; $^{16}$O (n, p) $^{16}$N. Favourable conditions for measuring $^{16}$N nuclei by emission of high-energy gamma quanta. No interference by foreign elements. Further elimination of oyxgen inhomogeneities by using Zarge specimens. Time per determination 2-3 min. |
