The flow of fuel elements in a Pebble-Bed High Temperature Reactor is described with a fluid flow model. Starting from the equations of motion for a noncompressible fluid and using the Computer Code TWODEPEP a flow model is established for the Thorium High Temperature Reactor THTR-300. In comparison to experimental data and to therefrom derived analytical expressions velocities, pebble tracks and residence spectra are discussed. lt is shown, that the main characteristics of the pebble flow can he reproduced with the fluid model if gliding along the vessel surface is accounted for. |
